First video project for the Paralympics!

Well I have officially completed my first video assignment for the USOC, although it was quite a chore. For one I don't have my professional camera or editing software yet so I had to shoot everything on my hand held camera. I didn't have a microphone either so the audio was really hard to gather. I edited the package in IMovie which is not a very advanced movie-making program.

The video is from the Paralympics Leadership Ski Symposium that happened this past Friday-Sunday. I was suppose to shoot all day Friday and have the video prepared to show the group on Saturday. The group consisted of Adaptive skiing program leaders from all over the country from Alaska to Maine. I was able to get all the B-roll and interviews I needed on Friday and spent Friday night editing the piece, however because my computer is so old, slow and crappy it crashed around 4 AM and I LOST EVERYTHING!

So I got a few hours of sleep, got up Saturday morning and got back to work, starting over. I was able to finish the video however and get it to the OTC in time to play it for the closing session.

Here is the video:

HELLO BLOGGERS! Im back AND Employed!!! :D

Hello everyone! I haven't blogged in a LONG time because I have been moving, moving again, adjusting to the real world and becoming a grown-up!

I started my new job and it's AMAZING! After 2 days I was already on a plane to Chicago! I will post about that more in depth later but for now I wanted to share my first OFFICIAL work for the USOC.

I took lots of photos while at the Chicago event and they can now be viewed on the USOC website, on the Paralympics page.

HELLO COLORADO!

So I am finally moved into my apartment after driving all night on Sunday. It was a long day considering I had to attend a Nelson family reunion during the day on Sunday and that Saturday had been my grandpa on the other side of the family's 90th birthday party. So as I was saying Sunday was a long day after 2 parties in a row, then driving through the night to get to Colorado Springs by noon on Monday. We arrived all right, my parents and Matt Hammer (like my second brother) helped moved me in. We were able to get my apartment and get all my stuff moved in and go by Wal-Mart to get what else I needed. On Tuesday we bought me a bed and the comcast guy was able to install my internet and cable. I said farewell to my family Tuesday then tried to get settled in a little as well as prepare for my first day of work. Today I woke and got to work early to meet my new bosses and co-workers. During the course of the day I met several co-workers and was able to be shown around the Paralympics building and the broadcast department. I was given an office with a laptop computer that hooks up to a dock so that I can also work through a monitor and large keyboard. I also have a bag for the new laptop, a blackberry curve for a work phone and 3 Nike polos with the USOC logo on them for work attire while at events. I was treated to lunch by my boss in the Athlete's dining hall. It was neat and I saw several athletes in there. After lunch I helped a little bit with converting some old video and also was able to mess with my new blackberry and computer to try and get myself settled in.

I received an unexpected surprise when my boss, on the fly, decided to send me to an event this weekend in Chicago. Originally only person from the office was going to be sent but Jeannie (my boss) thought it would be good for me to go along to get my feet wet and also so that my first business trip would not be me on my own. I am pumped but also a little exasperated because I still haven't gotten all unpacked and now will be spending the weekend (which I thought I would have to unpack and fix my apartment) in Chicago.

After work I walked around campus a little bit and then went to the USA Team store where I get a discount and bought a lanyard for my new employee id. I absolutely love the campus and its landscaping. There are sculptures and statues everywhere, not to mention an awesome fountain, waterfall and pond.

All in all I love my job and the first day was great... I am however really tired and kind of out of food! It was raining when I left work so I did not get to the grocery store yet! Oh well!

God Bless,
Trinity

Still living crazy, but here's a pic to tide you over!

Stress relieving tip: When things get crazy its always nice to make sure you make time for yourself to relax and take a little escape from the worrying, whether it be by writing, reading, running or talking. I prefer to take pictures, sing or go for a walk!
