Just watched the Grammy's

Well, I got to say I usually don't watch the awards shows because they are so long and usual don't impress me because I'm more of a country girl and the mainstream stuff is usually so dirty or scandalous. However I did enjoy Pink's performance this year, I have always liked her edgy style and even though her outfit this year was a bit ris-kay she had an awesome aerial stunt and a pretty song. I also felt sorry for Taylor Swift Not her greatest performance... but I still like her. It's not so much that she is a better singer than everyone else but she's got some mad songwriting skills, plus she's wholesome. I like that. Lots of people talk about her not singing that great but that's not the point, the girl wrote all her lyrics and music plus she plays a mean guitar and all at such a young age. She also has remained out of tabloids and all the dirty celeb news. She has a level head and hasn't let the fame get to her. You have to give her props for that.

Other Grammy news is Beyonce is awesome, the Micheal Jackson tribute was pretty and starred an eclectic group of performers and the best part... hearing Jennifer Nettles sing with Bon Jovi! I love her so much, Sugarland is my favorite and its nice to see Country represented at the Grammy's. Carrie Underwood was reppin' too. Now if only Christian music could bust on the scene! Toby Mac would tear it up!

Also I found out where Lady Gaga gets her inspiration!

Is it just me or did Lady Gaga look like she got her inspiration for her Grammy's outfit from the Ice Titan in Disney's Hercules???

Shine the Love

So I sometimes get inspired to write poems/songs/stories and I just wrote this one tonight. A lot of things have been on my mind lately such as those suffering in Haiti, friends with problems in their life, news stories I watch about violence and hate, and just so so much.

I know that I am not perfect and there are so many things I need to fix in my life but I try. I have been trying to let go of old grudges, feelings of superiority, trying to stop judging others... but again I know I am not perfect. It's a struggle for everyone, Christian or not. We all know we aren't suppose to hate, aren't suppose to break laws, suppose to love one another but the only one who was ever fully able to live like that was Jesus. Even though we can't always do the right thing we can at least try, try to help someone you may or may not like, try to fight the temptations of the world and the flesh, try to not judge and gossip and through the trying we can at least help to make things a little better in this world.

I didn't write this to gloat or to make myself seem perfect, I wrote it because I know I am not. I just think that to try is all we can do, and to try will bring us closer to the example Jesus set for us.

So now I am asking you, have you been trying?
Will you try now?

I hope you enjoy this and please leave me a comment if you want.

God Bless!

Pray for the lost, the hurt, the suffering...
Pray for the ones who made mistakes, the people stuck in a bad place...
Pray for the single fathers, the widows, the left behind orphans...
The lonely teen mothers, the soldiers who are our brothers...
The addicts, the abusers, the prisoners, the accusers....
Everyone needs a little help; everyone needs a little love...
Shine the light that comes from above.

No one is perfect, we all sin... its understanding that which will help us in the end.
Take the plank out of your own eye, before you judge the ones who cry.
Next time you think you’re better than them, think of how Jesus dined with sinning men.
He’s our example, he’s our friend, he’s our lord the way we can mend…
So much hurt in the world, so much hate amongst man,
Why not let love take a stand?

Next time you pass someone on the street…
Ask yourself if their need you can meet…
Pass it on, let old feelings be gone.
Forget the fights, the enemies of your past,
Because carrying that around is like living with a cast.
Let it heal, it doesn’t matter what harshness you feel.
Forgive and forget all that to which you’re bound,
Because life’s too short to carry it around.

Is it really that important to be cool?
To be hip, to be hot, to call someone a fool?
If we all learned to love, to accept and mend
Be only to the world a loving friend…
Stop putting ourselves before others…
Fight against hate until it smothers…

Pray for the lost, the sad, the suffering...
Pray for the ones living with mistakes, the people in a bad place...
Pray for the struggling marriage, the abandoned children...
The homeless, the ones with a life that’s always a mess...
The haters, the prostitutes, the thieves, the liars....
Everyone needs a little help; everyone needs a little love...
Shine the light that comes from above.

Some tips for a great pizza!

A few days ago I got bored and decided to make a homemade pizza very spur of the moment. If you want to try to create your own pizza I highly recommend going to Wal-Mart and buying the Great Value pack of pizza dough mix. It's only 52 cents and totally worth it! All you do is add water and Voila! dough. I added some garlic pepper to mine just for fun. You spread the dough on the pizza pan and cook that for only about 3-5 minutes. After taking that out of the over I used alfredo sauce instead of regular red sauce to spread on the crust. I then added a little bit of shredded mozzarella. Then I cut up a chicken breast and grilled it up a bit in my frying pan. I put the chicken pieces, some fresh spinach leaves, and some feta cheese on my pizza to complete it. I cooked that for about 5 minutes (until the cheese was melted and crust browned).

This was one of the BEST pizzas I have ever had. No joke! It was delicious plus very fun to make and affordable. I already had everything in my fridge except for the dough but if you have to buy everything its still not a bad deal. Most of the stuff used (chicken, cheese, sauce) won't all be used on the pizza so you can use it another time for another meal or another pizza. :)

Here is the finished product:

2 year Anniversary!

So my boyfriend, Micah, and I celebrated our second anniversary by taking the Pikes Peak cog train up the mountain. It was a great experience and a very beautiful ride. We went on an extremely clear and sunny day but unfortunately we weren't able to take the train all the way up to the top of the summit. Apparently there was some ice and snow that was blocking the rail to the top. We did make it pretty far though, we made it to 13,000 feet. That made us only 1,110 feet short of the top. So I guess we will just have to take the train again in the summer so we can make it to the top :D!

The view was still spectacular from 13,000 feet, however. I took several pictures but will have to post the rest later. The one posted below is a preview of the photos to come.

Holidays at Home!

So I was able to spend a white Christmas at home with my family.

I wandered into the old pasture one day with my camera to capture some photos while the sun was setting on the snow covered countryside.

Here are a few examples from my expedition:
