Spring in Manitou Springs!

So after visiting Topeka, Rich Hill, Columbia and then Topeka AGAIN it was time to head home. BUT I wasn't even able to catch my breathe because I had one day to get unpacked and tidy my apartment for the arrival of Katie and Soa. These two girls are friends of mine that I lived with at the Christian Campus House and they decided to spend part of their Spring Break in Colorado Springs with me! I picked them up at the Denver airport and then the fun began. :)

We spent their first day in Manitou Springs, CO. It's such a cute little town! I can only describe it as unique, folksy and pretty much a quaint hippie town in the mountains. There are always lots of things to do, see and eat. There are an assortment of restaurants from pizza to seafood, from Mexican to Middle Eastern. We enjoyed lunch at a place called "Heart of Jerusalem", which in my opinion had the BEST pita bread and hummus I have ever had!

After lunch we just walked around looking at different shops and enjoying the beautiful weather. While shopping we met a guy who was out and about with his wife and pet bird! He was very nice and let us take turns holding his Macaw parrot and the parrot even gave me a kiss! lol! Other highlights of the day included some free hula-hooping outside a shop and visiting a cool little arcade. After enjoying a root beer float at Patsy's, a little restaurant that's been open since 1903, we took a drive through Garden of the Gods. We made it into Garden of the Gods at a perfect time, just as the sun was going down. I got a few great photos of the "kissing camels" rock formation with the sun setting behind. I will post those at the end of this blog. That evening Soa graciously cooked us all dinner. She is from Korea and made us some traditional dishes including some sushi rolls! All in all it was a great day and was SO much fun!

Here are my favorite shots from the day!
